Life is about people and experiences. I've been very lucky to have had some amazing influences in mine.
Paul Raihofer was my deputy when I served as Mayor of Valatie. A true mentor, Paul loved classic country homes and great food. While I worked my way through Siena College, earning a Finance degree, Paul instilled in me a passion for building and traditional architecture, helping me construct my first few homes. As Mayor, Governor Pataki appointed me to the board of the Hudson River Valley Greenway Conservancy. There, I was schooled in the proper approach to sustainable development.
I'm a bit eccentric, my father is an international study. He has never owned a car costing more than $500 in his life. Stepping out of the car, he is cartoonish in character, balding, a big tummy. But he is wearing hand-made Le Chameau boots from France. His Barbour coat sports three Royal Warrants, his cap, hand- made in Scotland, and if he's going shooting, he's likely carrying a bespoke Italian Shot gun made by Piotti. All these items are the absolute unrivaled best the world has to offer. Always in style, designed with precision to be sturdy and functional, their elegance and beauty show, even when tattered.
I've set out to build a home that speaks to you, that you connect with emotionally. Unique in today's market, the new classic! To create that connection, I've assembled a great team. Jonathan Hallam, will confidently guide you through the process. He's rock solid and exudes great taste. As you make your decor selections, Roby Whitlock, possesses the perfect amount of Manhattan chic and upscale country style. A lady, Roby will delight and engage you as your personal designer.
Part Paul, part Dad, a lot of myself and an sophisticated team - welcome to the Kinderhook Cottage Company. Cheers!
Roby's mark on Columbia County is quite distinguished. While splitting her time between here and New York, Roby's successful renovation of a Valatie farmhouse and subsequent Kinderhook Village cottage, laid the groundwork for the complete transformation of Riverview Street in Stuyvesant, where she reconstructed four magnificent homes and the Riverview Cafe.
Married to Robert, a leading architect and partner at Kohn Peterson and Fox. Roby's interior design talents were honed at leading design, furnishing, and fabrics purveyors including Quadrille, Greystone Home Collections, and Brunschwig in Manhattan.
